Art in Nature II - The Moment of Creation

Museum of Nature of Cantabria

Artists, then and now, here and around the world... creating in Nature.

Creation is a magical, unique and unrepeatable moment.

An instant, a fraction of time, in which something comes out of nothing.

It may be due to a previous process of investigation, study and analysis. It may be due to a maturation of sensations and emotions or, simply, to an inspiration.

In any case, it is that small fraction of time in which an idea, an emotion or a feeling becomes something new and unique.

In art we are used to always seeing the final result after that moment.

In a gallery, an exhibition room or a museum we can enjoy the work... but rarely, if ever, can we be spectators of the magical moment of creation... much less comment on the process with the artist.

For this reason, this year, the Museum of Nature of Cantabria, in collaboration with SM Pro Art Circle, has believed that, in addition to offering its visitors the exhibition, Art in Nature II, made up of works by artists from all over the world, it was important that the public could witness the moment of creation. Of the connection with nature, of the impulses and emotions that this connection generates and how this process is transformed into work.

From July 19 to 28, three artists have been creating their works in the surroundings of the Museum of Nature in Carrejo.

Carmen Herrera Nolorve (Peru/France), Elissar Kanso (Lebanon/France) and Marta Bozyk (Poland), artists in residence at the NAT Art Residence, have been working every day in Carrejo, in its wonderful natural environment, and sharing, with whom they approached to the Museum of Nature, their particular processes in that magical moment.

The works developed by these three artists have been registered in photography and are exhibited in the surroundings of the Museum, along with the other 40 selected works of other international artists in an art tribute to Nature.

Forty-three artists in total, from different countries, from different cultures and with dissimilar realities but with a single vocation, to be artists and with a single purpose, to pay homage to Nature and remind us that the place where we live is also unique and magical, like the moment of creation, and that it is our task to take care of it.

Nature, as a heritage must be preserved, this is the aim of the Museum of Nature of Cantabria. The works exhibited in Art in Nature II embrace and share it from an aesthetic and emotional point of view, its mission: Caring for and preserving Nature, which is caring for and preserving ourselves.
