NAT Art Space

We live and work in Cantabria, Spain, and we are immersed in a geographical space full of human activity for many thousands of years and with an important heritage of Paleolithic art. Altamira, Monte Castillo and Covalanas are the best known examples of the many existing caves in the region that preserve the first works of art of humanity.

In 2018 we have acquired a beautiful house, located in a wonderful rural environment, on the coast of the Cantabrian Sea, in Tagle (Suances - Cantabria).

For two years we have made a deep rehabilitation process of the entire property, carrying out the vast majority of the work with our own hands.

The exterior works that we have done include the complete change of the roof, the installation of an insulation system on the outside, the replacement of all the windows with more energy efficient ones and the recovery, where possible, of the original stone.

Inside we have recovered the natural stone walls, distributed the spaces and installed a heating system in order to make it more comfortable.

This house, our house, is an integral space for all our activities and we have called it NAT ART SPACE.

In it we have our operational headquarters, our studio, a space for meetings and talks, a workshop, an exhibition room and, of course, the home of the resident artists and a beautiful outdoor green space.

Exhibition Hall

It is an open space of 45 square meters for exhibitions that is definitely different, with reclaimed exposed stone walls and an atmosphere that brings out the surrounding magic in the region.

The stones, mute witnesses of life on earth and of many lives, before ours, now guard and enhance the exhibited works.

It is not a typical room due to its architecture and because those who visit the exhibitions must have the desire to come to see art in a different way, without rushing, wanting an intimate moment with the works exhibited in an ancestral environment and eager to share a time for discussion and reflection.

Workshop

Our 20 m2 covered workshop space has large windows that allow in plenty of outside light and wonderful views of the surrounding fields. While our art programs are based on working in the natural environment, the studio is an added convenience for our resident artists on days when the weather is not conducive to such outdoor work.

It is also a meeting place where outdoor and indoor space come together and intermingle.

Residents Home

The space for the Art Residence has, on the ground floor, a kitchen, dining room and living room of about 36 m2 in an open and bright space and a toilet.

On the upper floor we have 3 bedrooms of about 9 m2 each, two of them with a double bed and one with a single bed and a complete bathroom. All rooms face the outside.

Our Studio

On the upper floor, above the exhibition room and in a wing of the house separated from the bedrooms, is our studio in which we carry out our daily tasks and is the meeting space with the resident artists.

We are very happy and proud of our space, of our house, of NAT ART SPACE.
